palm springs meets greece in san diego
This stunning 3,800-square foot modern single-family residence in one of San Diego’s most prestigious neighborhoods was completed just 11 months after breaking ground. Nestled among horse stables and hillside chateaus lies a shiny new architectural masterpiece—a sleek, unobtrusive modern marvel outfitted with expansive floor to ceiling windows, custom stonework, old world inspired courtyards, a cantilevered building mass, cantilevered floating stairs, custom steelwork, custom built-in furniture & storage, a breezeblock partition, and minimalist details. Drawing inspiration from the quintessential concept of "master-builder" in which architecture, engineering, construction, and even interior design are managed by a single party, Nakhshab used their expertise across multiple fields to expertly navigate the ins and outs of the local permitting and construction guidelines, allowing for the fast-tracked completion of the home. The result is an elegant and cohesive product from beginning to end, where a clear, distinctive vision translates across the architectural and landscape designs to the finishes and furnishings.
Exterior
While the newly-redeveloped lot is not wonting for space, plans for the 3.7-acre property included a single-family home with garage and carport, outdoor entertaining space, accessory dwelling unit, chicken coop, horse corrals, and stables. As a result, Soheil Nakhshab set about tucking the home into the sloped corner of the lot by using structural steel columns to float the main living area over the property, creating an ethereal treehouse feel and allowing for a secluded patio abyss underneath. The resulting views are that of a private interior courtyard, existing pond, drought-tolerant and low maintenance grounds, and those stunning California sunsets. Custom airfoil blades surround the main structure and provide privacy from neighbors while allowing the homeowner to enjoy the views.

Nakhshab Development & Design, Inc., has become sought out for its firm’s rare ability to manage a project from concept to completion, where the client hires them to design, build, and often furnish a home, as in this case. The result is one clear, distinctive vision where the interiors are an extension of the architectural design.
